2020 Ideas Worth Reaching Awards
by the Aspen Institute
The Ideas Worth Teaching Awards seek to honour exceptional teaching that prepares students with the context, skills and mindset to respond to the complexity and rapidly changing issues embedded in our economic and social systems – from inequality, to climate change, to the expansion of automation and AI.
The current crisis is forcing us all to wrestle with far-reaching questions about the interdependence of our economic systems and human health, about the economic fragility of front-line workers, and about the choices of business executives in both ordinary and extraordinary times that have profound impacts on human lives. The kind of teaching that the Awards highlight – teaching that “prepares students with the content, skills and mindset to respond to the complexity and rapidly changing issues embedded in our economic and social systems” – is ever more urgent.
